“When obedience becomes our goal, it is no longer an irritation; instead of a stumbling block, it becomes a building block.”

                        James E. Faust
Reflection:

This quote means that our main goal in life is obedience and that without it everything becomes hard for us. Also that if you are obedience you’ll pass all over your goals without a problem.

Plastic Surgeon

                          Plastic Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities:

A plastic surgeon is a medical doctor who reconstructs and repairs physical defects in all areas of the body, including the skin and skeletal system. Physical defects might be caused by nature, illness or an accident. However, many patients seek the assistant of a plastic surgeon simply out of vanity. This professional works to improve the cosmetic appearance of patient.

Salary:

$264,000 - $527,000

Education:

Most prospective plastic surgeons complete undergraduate degrees prior to attending medical school. Although bachelor's degrees in any major are acceptable, premedical students must complete certain prerequisite courses, including chemistry, biology and physics. The first two years of medical school, referred to as the preclinical years, teach students the fundamentals of body systems, diseases and patient care. The final two years are the clinical years and place students in healthcare facilities to perform clinical rotations. Surgery is a required rotation and some schools offer clerkships in plastic surgery. After graduating from medical school, individuals typically have two options when selecting residency programs. Some schools offer combined general and plastic surgery programs that last around six years, while others offer 2- or 3-year plastic surgery residencies independently and require individuals to first complete at least three years in general surgery residencies. Residency programs incorporate training in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery while allowing residents greater independence than that of medical students. Plastic surgeons who wish to work in subspecialties, such as hand or head and neck surgery, will then need to undergo fellowships. These programs typically last one year and provide more narrowly focused training with increased responsibility in treatment program management. Fellows also have opportunities to conduct research.

“Obedience is the great test of life.”

                            Thomas S. Monson

Reflection:

This quote means that obedience define what kind of person we are. So that’s why its like a test. For example if your no obedience that shows that you’re a disrespectful person and on the other hand if you are obedience that you are a respectful person and that follows the rules.

Neurologist

                                 Neurologist

Duties and Responsibilities:

Neurology is a medical specialty dealing with disorders of the nervous system. To be specific, neurology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and disease involving the central and peripheral nervous system; or, the equivalent meaning, the autonomic nervous systems and the somatic nervous systems, including their coverings, blood vessels, and all effector tissue, such as muscle. A neurologist is a physician specializing in neurology and trained to investigate, or diagnose and treat neurological disorders. Neurologists may also be involved in clinical research, and clinical trials, as well as basic research and translational research. While neurology is a non-surgical specialty, its corresponding surgical specialty is neurosurgery. Neurology, being a branch of medicine, differs from neuroscience, which is the scientific study of the nervous system in all of its aspects.

Salary:

$187,200 per year.

Education:

Physicians and surgeons have demanding education and training requirements. Almost all physicians complete at least 4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and, depending on their specialty, 3 to 8 years in internship and residency programs. Medical schools are highly competitive. Most applicants must submit transcripts, scores from the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), and letters of recommendation. Schools also consider an applicant’s personality, leadership qualities, and participation in extracurricular activities. Most schools require applicants to interview with members of the admissions committee. A few medical schools offer combined undergraduate and medical school programs that last 6 or 7 years. Students spend most of the first 2 years of medical school in laboratories and classrooms, taking courses such as anatomy, biochemistry, pharmacology, psychology, medical ethics, and the laws governing medicine. They also gain practical skills, learning to take medical histories, examine patients, and diagnose illnesses. During their last 2 years, medical students work with patients under the supervision of experienced physicians in hospitals and clinics. Through rotations in internal medicine, family practice, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and surgery, they gain experience in diagnosing and treating illnesses in a variety of areas.

“Obedience…Is the primary object of all sound education.”

                 Elizabeth Missing Sewell

Reflection:

I think this quote means that if you are obedience in your classes and you follow the teacher’s rules you would learn more than other students who don’t listen to the teacher and play around during class. For example let’s say this whole week you haven’t been following the teachers rule and you don’t pay attention and all you do is make jokes and play around. And you have a test at the end of the week and you know nothing on what the test it about. Why? Because   you weren’t being obedience and weren’t following the rules. So therefore be obedience and follow the rules and your education will be better.

“The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have.”

                         Boyd K. Packer
Reflection:

I think this quote is saying the truth. For example the more we listen to our parents the more freedom and trust they give us.

Obedience

                                    Obedience

Definition:

Obedience, in human behavior, is a form of "social influence in which a person yields to explicit instructions or orders from an authority figure".

Words that mean the same thing:
·      Compliance
·      Conformity
·      Submission
·      Subordination

Examples:

-An obedient soldier, would follow a command, even if it meant he would probably be killed following it.
-An obedient child, would go to bed exactly when his mother/father told him/her to do so, without objecting or arguing.
-An obedient student would be quiet, the moment his/her teacher told him to do so, even if he/she really wanted to continue talking across the classroom.

Military Medical Careers

                   Military Medical Careers

Duties and Responsibilities:

Even basic Hospital Corpsmen perform many medical and clerical duties that are sometimes divided up piecemeal among multiple occupations in the other services. As expected, they’re the heart of emergency, routine, and preventive medical care for sailors and Marines across the fleet. However, HMs also run administrative and logistical support for Navy medicine, support pharmacy, dental, and lab diagnostic work, and provide patient education ranging from basic health and wellness briefs to battlefield first aid training.

Salary:

$138,689-Over $187,200

Education:

Medical and health services managers must be familiar with management principles and practices. A master's degree in health services administration, long-term care administration, health sciences, public health, public administration, or business administration is the standard credential for most generalist positions in this field. However, a bachelor's degree is adequate for some entry-level positions in smaller facilities, at the departmental level within health care organizations, and in health information management. Physicians' offices and some other facilities hire those with on-the-job experience instead of formal education.

Bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in health administration are offered by colleges; universities; and schools of public health, medicine, allied health, public administration, and business administration. In 2007, 72 schools had accredited programs leading to the master's degree in health services administration, according to the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education.
